Facts about the Spring River
The Spring River's cool water provides ideal conditions for trout, which are stocked weekly. Although rainbow trout are the most abundant species in the river there is also many other types of fish. These types include brown trout, walleye, smallmouth bass, catfish, goggle eye, and bream. The water in the Spring River is chilly, a mere 58°, but the amount of cool water makes it perfect for stocking rainbow trout. The Spring River is a class I-II stream with numerous cataracts. Due to the large volume of water coming from the spring it is fairly stable most of the year, even during summer months when most other creeks are too low. The float is a very scenic one. The clean water, overhanging trees, and occasional wildlife make it very enjoyable.
